Drawing on crystalline minerals, historic architectural glass, and early railroad signal lighting for inspiration, the layered opal surfaces diffuse illumination into a soft, prismatic glow. A continuous capsule silhouette emerges from a structure made entirely of stepped, pressed glass tiles, forming a gemlike body. Discovered shortly after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2011, Rosie Li began her career when her undergraduate thesis project caught the attention of the lighting production company, Roll & Hill. The lighting design was the Stella Triangle, an abstract and geometrically savvy product that was not only Li’s first licensed product, but would eventually set the precedent for Rosie Li in 2015.
