The Herbert Bench from Uttermost pairs a raw, rough-hewn wood seat with an angular metal frame, landing between rustic and industrial in feel. A single raised bar runs along one side of the base, standing in as a subtle backrest and breaking up the open structure below. The reclaimed wood top keeps its natural grain and knots on full display, so no two benches look quite the same. Dark iron legs ground the piece and carry its clean lines throughout.

The Uttermost venture started in 1975 when Bob and Belle Cooper opened shop in Rocky Mountain, Virginia, largely as a manufacturer of mirrors. Still family owned, Uttermost has expanded to include many more lighting fixtures in their line and has a branch in Riverside, California as well as a strong working relationship with their employees in Guanxi, China.
