It features the signature White hand blown glass sphere flowing from the White polycarbonate-covered steel tube support. The translucent polycarbonate actually partially diffuses some of the light, further blurring the lines between the two individual components.

The previous version of this lamp was very much subject to heat--there is no opening for accumulated heat to escape. As a result, when I attempted to replace the 'socket' for its hrydrogen bulb, the plastic housing crumbled into about 50 pieces. The new versions that we purchased use LED bulbs. Hopefully they will produce much less heat and we are looking for their long life. Actually the previous pair lasted about 10 years before the sockets stopped functioning. Regarding the lamps themselves, you have to be very patient and somewhat technical in order to assemble and install them. But I did, it worked, and they look great.

I recently bought an apartment and the previous owner had really bizarre taste in light fixtures and they needed to be changed ASAP! I wanted something very chic, with a classic shape that wouldn't be too complicated to clean. I live in manhattan and no matter how many times per day you clean your apartment here, dust seems to just make its unwelcomed way in. I bought several of these in different sizes & I'm really pleased with the effect. I may add more when I recover financially from my renovations. Donovan, the gentleman who helped me was an absolute delight to shop with! I've become a loyal customer here and I always ask for him but if he's not available, everyone else who has helped me has been wonderful as well! The craftsmanship of these light fixtures is outstanding and i'vE bought several pieces from Artemide & i'm Very impressed with the quality.

Artemide

Artemide takes its name from Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon—a reflection of the brand’s ethos in creating fixtures that deliver an elegant, ethereal glow. Founded in Milan in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza, Artemide has been a driving force in Italian modern design.
