Made in India
The Cape Basket from Jamie Young Co. tapers from a wide opening toward its base, finished at the top with a contrasting band edged by a single fine stripe. Artisans hand-weave it from seagrass, coiling the fiber in close, even rows that leave a softly ribbed surface. Small variations in form are expected from piece to piece as a mark of handwork, and the flexible material responds well to steaming whenever a different shape is wanted.

Jamie Young Co.

In 1997, Jamie Young Jeter and her husband David Jeter took a day trip to Mexico and returned with a car full of flower pots. After selling the lot to a local florist, they realized the market for unique garden pots was wide open and began to produce them. As they tinkered with designs, they realized the pots would make interesting lamp bases, and the Jamie Young Company was born.
