Design pluses but quality issues

I have been looking for an LED floor lamp with a high lumen uplight and a reading light arm at a reasonable price, so when I saw this I bought it. I liked the contemporary clean design and it seemed to meet my needs. Assembly was straightforward, although the pictorial instructions that come in the box could be clearer if accompanied by some text. My disappointments: 1) The lamp base and the poles all have manufacturing defects--dimples in the base, scratches on base and poles--which clearly originated at the factory and are not a function of packaging, which appeared carefully done and completely intact when received. 2) The specifications say "fully dimmable" but the reading light is not dimmable at all. 3) The reading light switch is not on the pole but on top of the reading light itself and the switch button is a piece of cheap plastic in an assembly that does not seem very durable. This is really inexcusable in a $200 lamp. 4) The specifications say the lamp is 26 watts but the box says 23 watts. On the other hand, the lumens on the box are slight higher than stated in the specifications; higher lumens at lower wattage are better I think. 5) The base is not as stable as I would like to see. I took great care in assembly that the poles were fully tightened from top to bottom. It's the base itself that because of its construction is a bit unstable. I am keeping the lamp because I have looked for this design for a long time and this is the only such lamp I have seen at a reasonable price. I could have returned it for the defects but if I am correct that they are manufacturing defects there is no reason to think that the replacement would be better. I do hope that the awful reading light switch lasts as long as the LED lights themselves. I recommend this lamp only if you are willing to live with the negatives that I have described.

Eglo

Eglo was first founded in 1969 by Ludwig Obweiser. After years of development, the official headquarters was built in 1976 in Pill, Austria. In the '80s, the focus of the company was on expansion. And expand it did, with Eglo growing into one of the top lighting manufacturers in Europe, and then eventually the world.
