AVH2 Advanced Whole Room Space Heater

I have another Coronado that was purchased over 15 years ago. It still works but thought I could use a newer one. These fans are great. We take ours with us when we travel in our travel trailer. It heats up our 32' travel trailer so much that the heat rarely goes on...even when it's below freezing. I would recommend these fans to anybody looking.

I bought this unit because my son has a Vornado, not this one, but a similar looking model that has a dial at the top where you adjust the temperature. There is no digital read out on his, so finding the right comfort setting requires some guesswork before the unit automatically cycles on and off. The AVH2 Advanced has a digital read out but the thermostat is whacky, For instance if I set the temperature to, say, 72, the unit will run until the room gets unbearably warm. I called the Vornado help number and was told that this is normal, that the unit will run 3-4 degrees higher than the set temperature before shutting off. This is nuts! If I set the temp at 72 and the digital read out says that the room temp is 72 or 73 some time later, the unit should shut off!! Seems reasonably, right? -- Now that I figured this out and got it confirmed by Vornado, if I want the room temp to be 72 I'll set the desired temp on the heater to 68 knowing that it will cycle on and off when the room temp on the heater says it's 71 or 72. Just dumb. Absolutely crazy. :-( Also, as others have mentioned, the display is not backlit. I keep a small flashlight near by so I can see what I'm doing.

I bought this Vornado heater for my RV, it sits for long periods so I wanted heat to keep mold away. I have been using the propane heater but it is hard to change the tanks to refill the propane. This heater was perfect for the job it has a kill switch when the heater gets tipped over and doesn't use a lot of electricity. I read reviews where people complain about the setting being hard to read but I have not found that to be the case and I have pretty bad eyes. The price was right the company shipped it very fast. I am pleased with this heater. I would recommend it! I also wanted made in the USA and this model is, check on their web page because some of their heaters are from China and I did not want Chinese.

Currently use 5 of these units for supplemental zonal heating. They even keep the rooms warm when the central heating is turned off. Heats a larger room better than the VMH500. Assuming this is due to better room air circulation since the fan on this unit is slightly tilted upwards. Have to knock off one star due to occasionally having to reset a unit. With rare occasion the fan will run continuously and the heating elements will not come on. After unplugging the unit for a couple minutes they have resumed operating normally once plugged back in. Would purchase again if needed!

This unit can heat a room but fast. Quiet and a small foot print. Meade in the USA!
