It’s an Italian-made piece designed by Karman art director Matteo Ugolini in 2010. This piece shows off his flair for the dramatic and natural by blending classical contours assembled from simple geometric shapes into a ceramic column that appears to hang suspended in mid-air while extending its lamping into an open-based shade. This slightly-flared shape gentles horizontal brightness, reflecting and refracting the lamping into a potent pool of light that washes out below.
