The Alfi Work Swivel Chair with Glides from Emeco invites one to take it easy at the desk like a relaxing morning at the café as a refined take on the woven cane brasserie chair. Shape and character find balance with tension and expression in a design approach Jasper Morrison calls ‘super normal.’ This balance shows in the chair’s pairing of curves and sharp lines. Here, a recycled aluminum base tapers to create a pointing silhouette. A swiveling feature gives the shell smooth movement. The shell’s alluring texture is made using recycled plastic and wood fibers. This shell wraps one’s back for support and curves under the lower body.

Electrical Machine and Equipment Company (Emeco) was founded in 1944 by Wilton Carlyle Dinges in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Dinges' first assignment came from no other than the U.S. government, to manufacture a strong yet lightweight chair that could withstand water, salt air and rowdy sailors. The result was the iconic Emeco Navy Chair, made enitrely out of durable machined aluminum.
