- It's recommended to vacuum your rug regularly. Clean any spillages with a suitable product before they dry. Take rug to a specialist dry cleaner, if necessary. For stains that come from coffee, tea, milk, chocolate, wine, blood, or pets, use a mixture of diluted detergent, vinegar, and warm water. For stains that come from grease, wax, or ink, use a perchloroethylene solvent. For stains that come from mud, or general dirt stains, use ammonia and warm water.
