Coastal & Nautical Street Lanterns

Why We Love Street Lanterns

Taller than ordinary landscape lights, street lanterns provide more illumination and character to outdoor spaces. There are many styles from which to choose, including contemporary and traditional, to match a number of different architecture designs. Their broad spread of light provides an element of safety and comfort, adding a welcoming glow to larger landscapes so they will continue to be appreciated even after the sun sets.

Where Street Lanterns Work Best

For larger, more expansive properties, it's fun to consider street lanterns when creating a complete outdoor lighting scheme. By installing them in garden-type areas, near pools and on decks, you instantly add a feeling of grandeur and romance to the property. For long driveways, consider placing several on either side of a gate and the drive to welcome and guide guests toward your home. As guests stroll up your walkway, they will be happily greeted with the light and style of one of these street lanterns.

Outdoor Street Lanterns for Every Style

Although a decidedly traditional style of outdoor lighting, street lanterns can work their way into a decorative lighting scheme for front yards, backyards and commercial locations. When combined with other outdoor and landscape lighting, you'll have a well-rounded amount of lighting. Consider Kichler for post lanterns to use in your front yard. When mounted along the sides of the driveway, not only will the area look great, it will also offer an element of safety you and your guests will appreciate. Visual Comfort's old-world lantern fixtures are a go-to choice for those exteriors fitting a classic decorative look. And finally, look to Hinkley Lighting for stunning contemporary pier mounts. You'll have no trouble using them in the front yard or out back on the deck.

How to Choose the Best Street Lanterns

Outdoor lighting can come in many forms from hanging lights to sconces, path lights and the street post lanterns featured in this selection. When crafting the perfect outdoor lighting scheme, be sure to take note of how much light you need in your space. Consider whether your outdoor and landscape lighting is used for safety or simply for decoration. Be sure to measure the space where you'll be installing a light fixture to help you make the right sizing choice. Some street lanterns require a lot of room while others are much smaller and can mount to the top of deck posts. With a size in mind, then next step is to decide which colors and finishes best fit in with your existing exterior decor. Lastly, choose street lanterns by the light source you need and be prepared with the right light bulb when the fixture is installed.
