Won't pull up against the ceiling, leaving a gap.

This is a poor design. It will not pull up against the ceiling, leaving a gap between the ceiling and light. Most lighting fixture mounts will pull the light up to the ceiling. This is necessary since the junction boxes are not always perfeectly flush with the ceiling.
