The PH 2/1 Stem Fitting Chandelier from Louis Poulsen revolutionized lighting design with a three-shade system in 1925-1926. Designer Poul Henningsen aimed to produce glare-free light, directing it precisely and creating soft shadows with incandescent bulbs. The PH 2/1 Stem Fitting Chandelier is part of this iconic system, which now includes 30 lights. Glass shades were later introduced, illuminating the room while maintaining the system's principles of even light distribution. Each shade reduces light equally, determined by its distance from the source. Model numbers correspond to shade sizes; the PH 2/1 Stem Fitting Chandelier has a top shade of around 20 cm, paired with lower shades from the 1/1 model. Introduced in 2003, this configuration allows for pendants hanging at lower heights.
