The May Mini Pendant by Original BTC offers the best of traditional British craftsmanship in a sleek contemporary design. Made from bone china painstakingly baked, glazed, and refined in the old ceramic factory region Stoke-on-Trent, it uses a round canopy with a bullseye pattern to draw attention down the single braided cable to a hand-painted cylindrical shade around the lamping. The shade is crafted by pouring a water and clay mixture, called a slip, into a mold and left to set. Once set, the mold is split, and the shade is left overnight. Finally, it is sponged and fettled to get rid of any imperfections. The ceramic itself is intriguingly diaphanous, interspersing the hand-painted rings on its surface with the restrained glow from inside it.
