Pricey but worth it
The Anglepoise 1227 is a superbly designed lamp which provides light exactly where you want it. I chose the chrome option, which looks terrific as a bedside light. It was a little expensive, but worth it. However, it does need some assembly, arriving with a small plastic bag full of bits but no instructions. An email to Anglepoise in the UK got an immediate response and a pdf. You will need those instructions as it's not at all obvious what all the bits are for!
made where?

No where on the box, or the lamp itself, is the country where the item is manufactured identified. the lamp looks and feels like a reproduction. Still, it works fine.
Love this lamp!

I had an Anglepoise Type75 and recently bought an Original 1227 (both in black). In terms of functionality, both work similarly and equally well. T75 has a minimal and modern feel, but the Original has the classic, retro touch that I love. The paint on the Original is more shiny. You won't go wrong with either. The price tag is a bit high but I think it's worth it. Delivery is fast from YLighting.
Clasic, elegant a must have in all office.

True Classic
This lamp was purchased for my office and I could not be more satisfied. The adjustability works perfectly for me and the styling will always be in. I would recommend this lamp to anyone looking for a practical yet stylish office lamp.
Anglepoise
Anglepoise started in 1899 by Herbert Terry and sons. They originally sold products that used their springs, like toasters, bike seats and spring clips. It wasn't until 1931 when George Carwardine established a theory for using balanced weights with these springs that Anglepoise introduced lighting to the company.
