The Nelson Ball Bubble Pendant from Herman Miller continues George Nelson's 1952 material exploration that updated pendant lighting construction. Nelson developed this technique by adapting military spray-coating technology, applying soft plastic directly onto wire armatures to create organic forms. The innovative process eliminated traditional shade manufacturing, instead building three-dimensional forms through repeated application of material. Part of the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection, this piece demonstrates how industrial techniques can generate entirely new aesthetic possibilities in residential lighting applications.

Our new Nelson Ball Bubble Pendant is awesome! We utilized a Hue bulb to give it some flare. The light was easy to hang.

Comments about Nelson Ball Bubble Pendant

I absolutely love this lamp! It effortlessly elevates the ambiance of any space. The design cleverly hides the light source, allowing only the shade to softly illuminate the room, creating a warm and inviting glow.

Nelson lamps from Lumens are an excellent choice

Comments about Nelson Ball Bubble Pendant

These lamps (all shapes and sizes) are iconic for a reason: they're very high quality and look good in almost any setting. Don't be dissuaded by the non-built-in LED light source; programmable E26 LED bulbs are common now. In fact, a programmable bulb is more flexible than many built-in''s. We've been buying these lamps for man years from Lumens because both Lumens and Nelson is quality experience one can rely on.

Herman Miller

One of the most influential brands in American design, renowned for pioneering iconic mid-century modern furniture and lighting solutions, Herman Miller began its storied history in 1905 as Star Furniture Co. in Zeeland, Michigan. In 1923, businessman Herman Miller lent his name to the company, signaling a new chapter under the visionary leadership of his son-in-law, D.J. De Pree. This marked the beginning of Herman Miller's transformation into kingmakers of mid-century design.
