The Muralla Optique Wall Sconce from Niche delights, pairing a traditional form with an intricate transitional structure. A Jeremy Pyles design drawing its inspiration from historical castle walls, it uses a conventional stepped steel backplate and angular arm to suspend a downward-facing single-socket lamp inside a clear crystal shade. Two rounded accents add depth to its cylindrical form, while the ambient light broadcast through its translucent walls is enhanced by vertical striations running along its length.

Niche

Niche was founded by accident. In 2003, Jeremy Pyles and Mary Welch were in the process of opening a home furnishings store in Manhattan, called Niche, but couldn't find inspiring display lighting for the storefront. So Pyles designed a glass pendant and had it custom blown in New York (where all Niche products are still hand-blown).
