One of literature’s most iconic creatures, illustrated with sculptural form and light. Just like every page of the Herman Melville novel by the same name, the Moby Dick Chandelier Light from Karman brings drama and awe. For designer Matteo Ugolini, the piece doesn’t only represent the creature in the classic novel; it represents a childhood living along the Italian coastal town of Pesaro. Ugolini captures the impressive scale of the whale with a spacious shade. The shade’s fiberglass construction brings an eye-catching softness that mimics that of Moby Dick and the foamy water surrounding him. The pendant’s sweeping curve creates a sense of movement that energizes the room. Light adds to its dynamism as it flows out of the base to create a dramatic silhouette. The light creates a rich, airy ambiance.
