Well made, high quality with a serious gotcha
This is a very nice light. Well made. Fit and finish are excellent and the design suits our decor. However, we ordered 2 of the large pendants for our kitchen island and found that the canopy that is specified is too small to cover the ceiling opening. The opening is a nominal 4" and the canopy is spec'd at 3.9" and will not cover the junction box or the rough opening. We didn't notice that detail when we ordered. We had to contact the manufacturer who, after multiple emails back and forth agreed to supply a 4.25" canopy. We wound up paying $63 to have it shipped from China; the other option was to wait about 6 weeks and have it shipped free. This is a serious drawback to this light. Most U.S. installations have a 4" j-box in the ceiling and 3.9" won't cover it. We are a little disappointed with Y Lighting who said they couldn't do anything to help us and that we had to deal with the manufacturer. It's all worked out fine, though. We received the replacement canopies from the manufacturer and installed the lights just fine. A couple of other things to watch out for: the globes on these lights appear to be hand made and are not exactly the same; not a big issue, but if you want an exact match for multiple lights, there will be some minor variations. On installation, we found the replacement canopy much more difficult to attach than the original. It's a totally different design (cylindrical vs teardrop shape) and the set screws to fasten the canopy are almost impossible to insert since they are so small, require a loose-fitting Allen wrench and are so close to the ceiling to make the job very difficult. Wound up using longer screws which were easier to install.
