A tender, soft light held with a nurturing blown glass form. The hand of the artisan and the spirit of the design come through clearly in the Hold Mini Pendant from SkLO. It's a piece by husband-and-wife design duo Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak, a practicing craft artist and architect, respectively. They show the beautiful permutations of glass, metal, and light through handcrafted work. It emphasizes the holding motif of its name with its hooking metal suspension. Mimicking gravities weight on a feather-light bag, a blown glass shade hooks on the suspension in a seductive form underlined by its gentle curves. Made in the Czech Republic, the blown glass vessel holds a single bulb and provides pleasant Light diffusion. The warmth and radiance of the bulb shine through the glass, bringing you a comforting ambient light.

SkLO

Located in Northern California, SkLO is the brainchild of artist Karen Gilbert, architect Paul Pavlak, and Czech-native Pavel Hanousek. The three met in Healdsburg in 2009, and after discovering a unanimous passion for hand-blown glass (sklo means “glass” in Czech), they decided to create a multi-disciplinary studio focusing on glass lighting and accessory design.
