The Krabi Pendant from Maxim Lighting builds its shape from layered rings of open metal mesh rather than a solid shade. Those rings taper and widen in sequence, giving the piece an undulating shape from top to bottom rather than a straight, even one. Light passes through the open weave, casting patterned shadows onto nearby surfaces rather than a single beam. Built using steel and suspended by a simple chain, the pendant stays light in appearance despite its layered construction.

Maxim Lighting

Back in 1965, Jacob Sperling came to Los Angeles to study aeronautical engineering. Inspired by a job working for a lighting retailer, he turned his mechanical skills to the manufacture of lighting fixtures, building them in his garage and selling them out of his station wagon. In 1970, he brought brother Zvi on to help, and Maxim Lighting was born.
