Made in Italy

The Lumen Floor Lamp from FontanaArte is defined by the relationship between its slender metal stem and the wide tapered glass shade it supports. Dating to 1955 and drawn from the FontanaArte historical archive, the design rises from a tulip-shaped base with proportions that lean deliberately top-heavy, giving the lamp an architectural presence that reads clearly from across a room. The glass diffuser softens the light output into an even glow, and an inline on/off switch keeps the hardware minimal throughout.

FontanaArte

Architect Gio Ponti founded FontanaArte lighting in Milan in 1932 after serving as the artistic director of Luigi Fontana Company. The focus was on stained glass and its awe-inspiring presence in churches and cathedrals. In 1979, the contemporary lighting company is purchased by several private buyers and is revitalized to include well-known architects and glass artists.
