Artisans start with a handmade steel hook designed to mount the piece with a quiet visual note. Czech glass artists handblown the discs with a picture-perfect edge for a memorable circular silhouette. A recession in the glass gives the piece an intriguing quality in profile while catching the eyes in front with reflective details. Created by the separation of the glass master’s pipe, a flame-polished center marks the piece with a simple yet standout focal point.

SkLO

Located in Northern California, SkLO is the brainchild of artist Karen Gilbert, architect Paul Pavlak, and Czech-native Pavel Hanousek. The three met in Healdsburg in 2009, and after discovering a unanimous passion for hand-blown glass (sklo means “glass” in Czech), they decided to create a multi-disciplinary studio focusing on glass lighting and accessory design.
