The J46 Dining Chair from FDB Møbler features Poul Volther's 1956 spoke-back design that has become one of Denmark's best-selling chairs. The chair's distinctive backrest features vertical slats that offer both visual lightness and structural support. Volther developed this design to deliver sitting comfort whether used in the kitchen or dining contexts, with proportions that balance refinement against practical use. The spoke construction creates an open profile that reduces visual weight while maintaining strength, and the overall form demonstrates Volther's ability to combine functionality with enduring aesthetic appeal.

FDB Møbler

Based in Albertslund, Denmark, FDB Møbler remains a torchbearer of timeless Danish design—producing sustainable, high-quality furniture intended to endure both physically and stylistically for generations. In 1942, amid a world dominated by heavy, ornate furnishings accessible only to the privileged few, a quiet revolution began in Denmark.
