It is made out of two layers of fine leather, giving it both strength and a lovely tactile quality. I wanted a brown Elephant Mouse Pad from Vitra, but it's largely not imported in the US. YLiving is the only company selling it online. It took a bit of time to get, but it's a terrific modern mousepad and i'm really happy with it.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
