Haiku L LED Ceiling Fan

Very happy with the fan now that it's been installed, but there were some hiccups along the way. 1. At first the LED didn't work. A call to Big Ass customer service solved the problem. The trick was to detach the LED module with a simple twist, jiggle a few spring-loaded contacts, and re-attach it. See first photo. It obviously wasn't the first time the agent had dealt with this issue. Maybe Big Ass could mention this in the troubleshooting section on their web site? 2. The fan made an annoying click with each revolution. There were some suggestions on the Big Ass web site for fixing this, but none of them helped. It turned out that the cables under the motor cover trim were brushing against the revolving part of the fan. See second photo. The simple solution was to slide the cover up a fraction of an inch and push the cables out of the way.

After 6 haiku fans and 1 i series haiku (cheaper black and white version) I was confident in buying this haiku L series. The brand makes amazing fans but the haiku L is the cheapest looking fan I have ever owned. The look of this fan belongs in a big box store for a 1/3 the price. To add even more insult the remote is laughable. While all my other remotes are small, sleek and on brand…this one is huge and generic. I am not impressed. All my experience with the brand gave me a false sense of security with this expensive purchase. Instead of clean and classy this black plastic is cheap looking and far less refined than other models. The fan works good but what's the point if it's hard to look at.

We had this fan installed in our bedroom with a sloped smiling. It's incredibly quiet and we love the look. Plan to buy a couple more!

I have several of these fans in my house. I really dig the aesthetics and almost silent motor. However, I am beyond disappointed, just downright angry about the remotes. I don't want any remotes in my life, let alone for a fan (or 4 of them in my case). I don't want a remote for anything these days. So now I have to bounce around on the website to find the wifi unit and buy a wall switch. These fans are so annoying when you don't have a wall switch. My kids are constantly flipping the standard on/off wall switch off (by the way, I live in a regular house with switches.) then the Wifi module is not powered, so to control them with my phone I have to go to the room and switch them back on. BAF can do better, it is obvious.

We actually didn't buy, assemble, or set up the Haiku. When we moved into a new house, this fan was in the bedroom. We were just using it with the standard light switch; the previous homeowners didn't show us where the remote was. About 3 years later it turned up. Then I did some research, and found out it was a smart fan. So I hooked it up the the Haiku home app and set it up with my Google Nest Mini. Works awesome with Google Assistant, and moves a lot of air, and it's very quiet.
