The Big Ass Fans Story

“Do you guys make those big-ass fans?” When a little company then named HVLS Fan Co. started up in 1999, selling huge ceiling fans for industrial spaces like cattle barns, this was a question they got asked a lot. Enough, in fact, that a few years later they changed the name to Big Ass Fans and the rest, they say, is history.

Headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, Big Ass Fans now reaches a global market with offices in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada. A plethora of product-design and energy efficiency awards roll in year after year, and an ever-expanding product line now includes award-winning residential ceiling fans.

A Fun Fact About Big Ass Fans

The company started out solving a need for dairy barns, where cows needed to be comfortable to produce more milk. So it’s somewhat appropriate (emphasis on ‘somewhat’) that the company’s mascot is a donkey named Fanny; so called after a real donkey from Kentucky who lives forever in the Big Ass Fans logo.
