This fan is pretty darned good!
Ok - I'm the one who wrote the not so good review above this one and I have to say that I was wrong! After living with the fan for a couple of days, I've come to really like it much more. Yes, I thought I was upset about the shade, but I was just fussing. The fan looks "fresh" in my bedroom. I like that it sits close to the ceiling. It certainly works really well! My old fan only had 4 blades. The Frisco has 5 and really circulates the air. I doubt very much that I will ever need to run this beyond low. Also, this fan is super quiet which is wonderful!! I believe that if you put this fan in a room with higher ceilings you would find that it is most efficient. I have a standard 8 foot ceiling. I chose white because I wanted the fan to blend into the ceiling and not detract from my furnishings rather than act as a design statement itself. It is quietly attractive. I'm very happy with this fan. Sorry for the bad review above. OOPS.
Not what I wanted
I purchased this fan/light online, not in the store. I thought this fan would be perfect to replace the crummy old one in my bedroom, BUT, it's not quite. It is the perfect size and I did debate the color, but ended up playing it safe with white. I didn't realize how small the glass shade is. If it were just a tad larger in diameter and a tad deeper it would be a better balance and look with the fan. Because the shade sits down lower on the fan you can see hardware on the "stem" when you first enter the room and look up (see arrow on photo), however, when you stand directly under the fan and look up it looks great! The other thing I didn't realize is that because the glass shade is open on the top, the lights shine UP and thus, when the fan is going, you get a strobe effect. I don't like that. My old fan had a downward facing light, so I didn't even think about the lights facing up. I'll probably keep it as I don't use the light on the fan that much and I'd have to call my handyman to come take it down, but it''s just not quite what I wanted. The fan itself works great and in the big picture it's attractive, but because of my personal taste about the size of the shade, the strobe and the visible hardware, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend OR I'd recommend it sitting higher than an 8ft bedroom and I'd use one of the other finishes.
