The Original 1227 Floor Lamp from Anglepoise provides a clean modern-industrial look to its surroundings. Engineered by George Carwardine, a 20th-century car designer, the lamp’s then-unique spring design offers excellent flexibility paired with unparalleled stability. A steel pole ascends from a buckler-style base, sweeping upward into a dual-articulated arm accentuated with classic chrome-plated aluminum arms. This lamp is very nice! It moves smoothly in literally any direction you put it in and stays. Very intelligent design. I got linen white. I thought it would be off white based on this but it is more like a true bright white and finish is shiny. Looks very cool and modern. It comes with a bulb. Would like to see this in more colors.

Anglepoise

Anglepoise started in 1899 by Herbert Terry and sons. They originally sold products that used their springs, like toasters, bike seats and spring clips. It wasn't until 1931 when George Carwardine established a theory for using balanced weights with these springs that Anglepoise introduced lighting to the company.
