Permanent Bulb Not Bright Enough

I thought a cordless lamp would be perfect for my master bedroom bedside. This lamp is pretty and a perfect sized imprint for a nightstand. I read in bed however this lamp gives off only 250 lumens, not enough to read by or really even light up a master bedroom. AND YOU CANNOT THE BULB, THE WATTAGE. It is a VERY dim lamp. There is no overhead lamp in the bedroom so it is like lighting a candle!!! Just a dim ambiance. And they market the lamp for reading: "The adjustable design accommodates different situations, from intimate reading to general room illumination." I ordered two, only one came which turned out to be a good thing. Luckily they make the exact version of this lamp with a cord and a regular bulb socket so I ordered one for my side of the bed so that i have matching lamps. The dim lamp is on my husband's side who doesn't read in bed. Anyway, expensive, nice lamp...just beware...it is for nothing more than an ambient light.
