Originally designed in 2002 by Ferruccio Laviani, the Kartell FL/Y Pendant Light features a collection of dome shades available in a vibrant range of colors. The gradual concave curve at the base is the defining characteristic of the design, actualizing the dual use of ambient and functional down lighting. The batch-dyed thermoplastic shade is crisp in transparent finishes, bringing to mind the lightness and iridescence of a soap bubble in bright light.

Watch the Protective Film!

The FLY Suspension Lamp is a very popular item at Lumens.com. We often get calls from customers who are concerned that their are small scratches and bubbles on the glass shade. Here's the catch... Kartell does an outstanding job of packing this product. As part of that, they apply a removable protective film to the glass for shipping. They do such a neat job of applying the film, it's sometimes almost impossible to discern! So, if your FLY Suspension Lamp comes with scratches or bubbles, look closely to see if the scratches you are seeing are in the protective film!

Great look lamp

This is my favorite suspension lamp in the entire house. Simple clear design yet very high end look for a fraction of the price of other designer lights. I chose a beautiful cobalt color - just love it. Only negative is the fluorescent bulb that cant be operated with a dimmer so I need to go buy a new light ASAP...
