Sign InIn the Bronx during WWII, Rose Feiss started to sew custom lampshades to keep herself busy and her mind off the fact that her son, Murray, was off serving in the Navy. Murray came back home safe and sound, however, and saw a profitable business in his mother's lampshades. He put porcelain bases and fittings together with these lampshades, and Murray Feiss lighting was born.
Now three generations in, Feiss Lighting, now known as Generation Lighting and Visual Comfort Studio, has expanded into a wide range of suspensions, wall sconces, bath bars and even some outdoor lighting fixtures.
The Feiss motto is "pride in the past and commitment to the future." The former can be seen in the authentic period details of their opulent traditional designs as well as their more modern transitional styles. The latter they show in the increased use of energy efficient (Energy Star Qualified) technologies. The Feiss in-house design team includes industrial, graphic and interior designers, ensuring the quality of the style itself and the enduring structural quality of Murray Feiss home lighting.
Cementing its reputation as a quality fashion lighting manufacturer, Feiss lighting is the exclusive producer of the Bob Mackie Home Lighting collection, as well as the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's Pure Simple Today collection. After merging in 2012, Feiss is now a sister company to Monte Carlo Fans, now known as Visual Comfort Fan.
