The Dune Chandelier from Fredrick Ramond offers a glamorous accompaniment ideal for tall ceilings and open living spaces. A single strand of strong chain suspends both the candelabra-style lamping and holds the shade below it, creating a lambent, floating appearance as the chain and steel frame are burnished when lit. The otherwise-open lamping is easily gentled by a bowl shade comprised of curving ribs of strung sea glass that arc from a wide ring above the lamping to a smaller round hub below it. The ends of each strand thread through the hub, adding a mix of natural notes to the sweeping, sculptural design while pouring out a pleasing glow around it.

My wife and I wanted a statement chandelier, but most of what we saw on the market was shiny chrome or crystal that didn't match our style. This piece was one that we both really liked! We love the way it looks and are overall very satisfied with it. The Pros: It's a beautiful design and nice quality material. It was packaged very well. There was nothing damaged. There was one broken ball of glass, but I don't believe it was from a strand of ours - it somehow found its way into the packaging. The Cons: Cost: It's very expensive compared to other chandeliers we considered - easily 5-10x more. It was a splurge for us since it was the best style we could find on the market. Materials: The tiny metal hooks that hold the glass strands onto the top ring are not sufficiently strong metal. During installation 3 of them bent and came loose. This could have been catastrophic if the bottom hooks weren't secure because the beads would have fell and surely shattered. Oddly enough, the bottom hooks are sturdier metal. Installation required myself and two others. This is at least 50 pounds and delicate, making it challenging to hold in place while an electrician mounts it to the ceiling. Finally, the chain link for hanging it is challenging to open a chain link and re-close. There are no instructions for how to do this. The links are flattened (not rounded metal), and the painted on finish will chip when you do this. There really ought to be better hardware for each end of the chain. In conclusion, we are really happy with this, however there are a few finishing touches in the material design that could be reworked to make this a truly outstanding piece. That said, if you love the look, I wouldn't let those issues deter you from purchasing this chandelier.
