The Drape Composition 1 Multi-Light Pendant by SkLO is an artful arrangement of handblown Czech glass spheres from wife and husband design duo Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak. Combining their diverse backgrounds with metalsmithing, glasswork, and architecture, this piece embraces the beauty of materials and honors the subtle and simple expression formed by traditional techniques. Each spherical glass piece, although a different size, has a double-dipped, fire-polished mouth where the glass has been broken away from the glassblower’s pipe for an individual touch. Both are suspended by fabric-wrapped cords from a single canopy, the smaller featuring a brass loop that attaches to an included hook to complete this composition as the larger globe hangs straight down.

SkLO

Located in Northern California, SkLO is the brainchild of artist Karen Gilbert, architect Paul Pavlak, and Czech-native Pavel Hanousek. The three met in Healdsburg in 2009, and after discovering a unanimous passion for hand-blown glass (sklo means “glass” in Czech), they decided to create a multi-disciplinary studio focusing on glass lighting and accessory design.
