Lamp made in China, not USA as advertised.
I was very disappointed with this lamp. The website under "specs" said made in USA, the lamp clearly has a "made in China" sticker right inside the metal shade. In addition the heavy metal base that has to be screwed into the wood vertical rod is held in with just two screws, one has to be very careful to support the base when moving or wood is likely to split. And lastly the lamp would not work, four bulbs that work in other lamps tried, different outlets that work for other lamps tried, lamp will not come on. Y-lighting credited me for the lamp and Roll and Hill did not want it back so lamp has been thrown out, but a bit disappointment considering how it was advertised, the quality and the cost. This is not a lamp worth the price.
Beautiful but poorly designed
Aesthetically I love this lamp, but there is a major design flaw. The base of the lamp is very heavy and attaches to the wooden "arm" with two small screws. Anytime you move or adjust the lamp the screws strip the wood around them. After about two months the lamp fell apart. Easily fixed with glue and some threaded inserts, but I don't expect this fix to last long. Definitely not worth the pricetag.
A nice addition to our apartment
The light is well made and attractive. The only problem with the light - and this may sound silly - is that, well, it doesn't provide a lot of light. That may sound silly - a light that isn't very light - but it's fairly accurate. So if you're looking for a light that will provide a lot of illumination, this is not the light for you. But if you're looking for an attractive piece to illuminate a very limited area, then I recommend the Excel Desk Lamp.
It is fabulous
I specified and purchases this light for a client and it looks great. Colors are vibrant, light is sufficient and its very cool looking!
Nice looking lamp, but disappointing finish/construct for th
Got the lamp and fist impression was, "I really paid for this?". It's nice, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't really justify the price tag. There's a few black lumps of something - looks like melted plastic, but could be paint - coming out from the hole in the wooden shaft where the black metal bar pokes though. Hard and won't come off. NOT the sort of finish I was expecting. The cord is also really hard and after being packed up refuses to hang of the table, instead stays bunched up and twisted. Finally, and I knew this going in, a light at this price should have at least three different light settings. I mean, you can get cheap home box store lamps with that feature. I believe it should be standand on any lamp (not just this one). Not disappointed enough to send it back and I do like the look of it, but wouldn't recommed it to anyone who's thinking about buying one unless you're completely in love with the design.
