As such, in the face of all the cookie-cutter, functional design that's good for the environment but otherwise expressionless, David Trubridge lighting and furniture have pleasingly personalized identities that engender pride in one's personal environment and, consequently, the environment of the world in general.

Why We Love David Truebridge

David Trubridge lighting fixtures and furniture are made with care and love for both unique aesthetics and nature, without wasting precious energy or resources. Each design is manufactured on site in New Zealand using sustainable practices throughout the process, from the harvesting of sustainably harvested timber to the use of non-toxic oil-based finishes to shipping each finished piece as a compact kit set for low-energy (and low-cost) shipping. (A beneficial side effect of this practice: Needing to assemble each piece at home makes the owner part of the cultural design process and serves to enhance the bond between the two.)

Noteworthy Lighting From Trubridge

It's hard to believe that fixtures as large and airy and luminous as the spherical Coral Pendants and Floral Pendants or the woven, fishing basket-shaped Koura Pendant could sprout from such minimal "kit set" packaging. But so they do. Each assembled piece uses the minimum amount of material to maximum effect, and is classically designed and created with the highest craft standards for maximum longevity.

In His Own Words

"I am not interested in trends or fashion. That will turn you into a follower. I try to find my own heart and to have the confidence to speak from it, with integrity and in my own voice. I do not want to produce the equivalent of a superficial pop song that may be the rage today but is forgotten tomorrow – it is my dream to create something like Bach's music that is not just remembered but can still be inspiring hundreds of years later."
