I selected this brand and style with very high expectations. Those were dampened when we learned that this fan is specifically not allowed to be switched off with anything but the remote. It must stay hardwired to the circuit. In fact, it seems that if it ever does lose power, the fan will need to be reprogrammed. So every time we have a power outage, it could lose its programming. Also - be warned that if you want to have this near an air vent or on an outdoor covered patio space, any breeze will make this fan turn off or not start at all. A safety feature I'm sure, but since I can't return these, it's super frustrating to find that out after getting it.
