The Astor LED Linear Suspension from George Kovacs captivates its environment using simple materials in an intricate array. Descending from a stepped circular mount along parallel downrods, it blooms arcing metal channels below in a curling, ribbonlike array, setting diffuser-mellowed LED lamps inside their outer edges. The lamping is further enhanced by an accent of curling metal rods, taking on an ambient glitter that extends out around the fixture, adding a tasteful, sculptural accent to its surroundings.

George Kovacs was born 1926 in Vienna, Austria. After moving to the US, Kovacs was enticed in 1954 to market J.T. Kalmar lamps. Inspired by the success of that endeavor--and the observed popularity of such contemporary lighting--Kovacs expanded his lighting import and design business (with locations throughout New York).
