The Ashangai Table Lamp from FontanaArte is built around the geometry of intersection. Five transparent borosilicate glass tubes, held together by chromed brass joints, form a layered structural composition that makes the construction itself the visual focus. Max Ingrand designed it in 1955 during his time as artistic director at FontanaArte, and the piece reflects his interest in material honesty. A dimmer switch allows the light level to be adjusted, while the transparent power cable keeps attention on the glasswork.

FontanaArte

Architect Gio Ponti founded FontanaArte lighting in Milan in 1932 after serving as the artistic director of Luigi Fontana Company. The focus was on stained glass and its awe-inspiring presence in churches and cathedrals. In 1979, the contemporary lighting company is purchased by several private buyers and is revitalized to include well-known architects and glass artists.
