It’s a piece by Hector Serrano, a designer creating objects that deliver the unexpected with a familiar touch. The pendant surprises with a hand-painted mesh that awes in its textural surface. Serrano gives the mesh a natural shape through a process where a fine thread cinches the top at multiple points. The mesh shade creates a seductive silhouette evocative of intricate gift-wrapping. The sculptural form hangs in the air gracefully with a fine, stylish cord. With a single bulb inside, the fine openings of the shade transform into a sea of wondrous highlights. The highlights create an uplifting atmosphere as a generous down glow exits through the wide opening.
