2019 Armchair

A respectful centennial salute from a brilliant mind. The 2019 Armchair from Poltrona Frau is a sprightly update to the 1919 original, crafted by the inimitable Renzo Frau. While everything has changed, this design has remained inspired by the past, built with the best methods of the present. Made in Italy, it’s more than just a reworked original design; it’s a true continuation. Respectfully designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, who devotedly examined every inch of the original, this creation adds a slightly-angled modern-day comfort and utility to the older design. Keeping the subtle, signature pleats of the rounded armrest intact and relying on hand-stuffed goose down padding and the long-lasting steel springs, it incorporates rich, classic materials like metal accents and solid wood feet surfaced in hand-stitched leather. The signature capitonné style button back is the final point of pride. It’s still done by hand and provides a shadowy relief to the rich leather upholstery, escorted by two rounded wings that add enduring comfort as a classic accent.
