The Three Arm Floor Lamp comes from one of Serge Mouille’s most distinctive lines of highly expressive, yet minimal, lighting fixtures. Originally designed in 1952, this piece presented a sharp contrast to the bulkier Italian designs that were popular at the time. Crafted of lacquered aluminum, this fixture’s clean and slender lines evoke the look of a delicate stick insect in motion. Its short legs clasp onto the ground aggressively, while its three arms above are spread in every direction. Brass joints allow the bowl-shaped shades to be positioned as needed, further accentuating its animal-like character.

Serge Mouille

It was in 1953 that Serge Mouille created his first lighting fixture, the now-iconic three-arm floor lamp. Today, the brand which bears his name is world renowned for French modernist and mid-century lighting fixtures that are known for their minimalist details, sharp angles and fine metal construction. These famed fixtures were introduced to the US market as re-editings of the original designs from the ‘50s and ‘60s, as they’re every bit as inspired for homes of today.
