A neat and naturally finished piece, the Sopra Ridged Recessed Downlight by Original BTC is a beautiful display of handcrafted bone china. Designed and individually made in the UK, each piece is molded and finished by a skilled team in Stoke-on-Trent, where only a handful of ceramics factories still exist. A slip, which is a water and clay mixture, is poured into a mold, and, after it sets, the ceramic piece is removed and left to dry overnight. Then, the product is sponged and fettled to remove imperfections. The expressive texture and translucent qualities of bone china are showcased in this softly shaped fixture, lending an artful touch to the spaces it illuminates.
