The Scintilla Semi-Flushmount from FontanaArte is a system built around interchangeability. Livio and Piero Castiglioni designed it to combine the appearance of a decorative lamp with a lighting output closer to a technical fixture, and it comes supplied with two borosilicate glass diffusers: one transparent, one sandblasted. Each produces a noticeably different effect from the same chromed metal frame. A separately available anodized aluminum reflector adds the option of indirect output. The ceiling connection is finished in chromed polymer, consistent with the frame throughout.

FontanaArte

Architect Gio Ponti founded FontanaArte lighting in Milan in 1932 after serving as the artistic director of Luigi Fontana Company. The focus was on stained glass and its awe-inspiring presence in churches and cathedrals. In 1979, the contemporary lighting company is purchased by several private buyers and is revitalized to include well-known architects and glass artists.
