1020, the number of individually drilled holes it takes to create the dazzling light effect of his mid-century modern inspired piece. The aptly named Riddle Wall Sconce from Bert Frank is a feat in design and engineering made to deliver both a task and an ambient glow. It wasn’t easy solving this lighting riddle. The brass shade features a pattern of 1020 hand-applied holes that let a soft glow filter through while leaving a field of charming highlights. A directed glow funnels through the wide opening at the base to shine up your more studious tasks. The intricacies of the shade speak to Bert Frank’s carefully detailed approach to design. This thoughtful process also lends to the sconce’s angle adjustability and overall compact form.
