The piece pays homage to Koho’s native Finland by using beautiful birch wood, the country’s national tree. Finnish artisans transform the wood into ultra-slim slats, form-pressed with a gentle curve. Showing the pendant’s attention to detail, each slat is painstakingly arranged to achieve a dashing geometric form. Like the Scandinavian classics, the piece treats your eyes to a glare-free experience. The concealed bulb produces a soft down glow and ambient light. Secto Design

Secto Design was established in 1995 after Tuula Jusélius and Seppo Koho met and discovered a shared passion for northern woodworking and Scandinavian design. The Finnish pair started the brand as an answer to what they considered a missing element of modern design: quality wooden lamps that can be paired well with furniture. Secto Design pieces are made of sustainably sourced birch (the national tree of Finland) because of its unique combination of strength and pliability. What began as a small workshop in Heinola is now a bustling factory designing and producing an array of modern lamps sold worldwide. Secto Design lighting blends traditional woodworking and skilled craftsmanship with innovative and distinctive designs that are recognized throughout the world.
