A 1999 revision to the classic Panton chair--and the last version authorized by Verner Panton. The plastic in this model has been completely re-engineered and molded out of a single piece of dyed polypropylene. It also has a matte surface (the 1959/60 original version has a glossy finish). Finally...a Panton chair that realized one of its creator's primary objectives: a plastic chair as an affordable industrial product.

Panton Chair (1999) by Vitra is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly As Expected I had been eyeing these chairs for quite some time, after seeing them in another store--so I knew what I was getting. They are a little pricey, but that is everywhere, not just here. I purchased them in white, and am not disappointed at all. They included a certificate of authenticity along with a discreet image of the Panton signature on the chair's bottom. They arrived and were packaged well, no dings. Delivery was faster than predicted. The chairs have a little give as you sit in them, which is nice. They are extremely durable. And, are perfect for casual dining inside and out. I paired them with a square glass table in an informal dining area. I receive compliments from EVERYONE who visits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this chair! We have six of the white Panton chairs surrounding a marble Saarinen table in our informal dining area, They look elegant and fun and are very practical for children, as the chairs are stable and easy to wipe clean. We are not large people and find the chairs to be very comfortable. The back flexes slightly to provide a slight rocking feeling without the base leaving the floor, which people seem to like. No one ever seems anxious to leave the table... Note: although they are often shown in outdoor settings, we were surprised to see that the labelling indicates that they are not suitable for prolonged outdoor use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Neon Orange This chair looks really cool in the picture but beware. It's practically neon orange and very uncomfortable. It's like sitting on a rock and looks like it belongs in a preschool classroom. I get where they were trying to go but didn't quite pull it off. We were hopeful but my client requested a return immediately
