The Balboa VX EE Outdoor Wall Sconce from Maxim Lighting curves outward from a round backplate, giving this transitional fixture a classic lantern shape with a graceful arm on top. A paneled body wraps around a textured glass shade, adding a mid-century modern grid pattern, allowing warm light to filter through. Back in 1965, Jacob Sperling came to Los Angeles to study aeronautical engineering. Inspired by a job working for a lighting retailer, he turned his mechanical skills to the manufacture of lighting fixtures, building them in his garage and selling them out of his station wagon. In 1970, he brought brother Zvi on to help, and Maxim Lighting was born.
