The curved plywood back is slotted through the seat before being attached to the solid wood legs. This design by David Geckeler is the winner of the Muuto Talent Award (2011).

I love the chairs. They are light weight and have a great profile. I ordered them in light grey but, in reality, they are more pale blue than grey, a color I have to get accustomed to as I bought them on sale and were not returnable.
