Made in USA
The Nelson Cigar Lotus Floor Lamp from Herman Miller exemplifies George Nelson's 1952 exploration of Asian-inspired forms adapted for Western interiors. Nelson developed this piece through his fascination with lotus flowers and cigar shapes, creating an elongated oval shade that diffuses light through soft plastic material. Part of the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection, the fixture uses a spray-coating technique spun around a steel wire frame. The base supports the minimal silhouette with floor switch control and a white electrical cord.

Comments about Nelson Cigar Lotus Floor Lamp

So elegant and functional. Needed lamps that would illuminate a dark room lacking overhead lighting. One large + one medium did the trick.

Comments about Nelson Cigar Lotus Floor Lamp

The lamp looks nice, except for it is very crooked. The pole does not come straight out of the base. I spent a while trying to fix it, but in the end decided that for a lamp of this price I did not want to have to have it sit perfectly on shims and redo it every time it gets moved. Perhaps it was a manufacturing flaw on the lamp I received and not a widespread problem, but beware.

Herman Miller

One of the most influential brands in American design, renowned for pioneering iconic mid-century modern furniture and lighting solutions, Herman Miller began its storied history in 1905 as Star Furniture Co. in Zeeland, Michigan. In 1923, businessman Herman Miller lent his name to the company, signaling a new chapter under the visionary leadership of his son-in-law, D.J. De Pree. This marked the beginning of Herman Miller's transformation into kingmakers of mid-century design.
