Kettle with Bird Whistle

Having admired this kettle since it's introduction, I finally decided to have one! I'm very pleased with the appearance and quality. It is easy to fill and water heats quickly. The bird whistle is not as strong as I would like - it sort of makes a whooshing noise and doesn't really whistle until I'm taking it off the burner. Perhaps I don't let enough steam build up... Otherwise, this iconic kettle is just aa I expected and I'm happy to own it.

After years of using electric kettles that died, on average after 2 years, I decided no more electric ones. First tried the Alessi Sapper kettle, but it wasn't big enough for my needs, plus it took forever to heat up. Also the whistle sounded like a freight train. The bird kettle heats up almost as fast as an electric one, because of it's wide base. One can fill it quickly by removing the lid, and despite reading about troubles other's have had with the bird, when I take it right off the burner when it starts to boil, then quickly grab the bird and twist it off, I've bad no burnt fingers. The secret if taking if off the stove AND being quick about removing the bird. Lastly, the whistle is sweeter than most.

Bird kettle is a great addition to my clients kitchen. Color of the handle is perfect, works very nice on the electrical stove.

This is the second Alessi Kettle I have owned (sadly the first one, which was already quite old, was left by someone to boil dry). I recently replaced it and am so happy to have done so. Very sturdy, high quality and very aesthetic, it heats water quickly and I love the bird whistle. It helps to pull the whistle out quickly when the water boils as the steam is hot. The first kettle I ordered from Lumens had a defect so I contacted the company and they very graciously and quickly replaced the kettle. Lumens really does put the "service" in customer service. Friendly, no hassle replacement. I've bought from Lumens a number of times and they never disappoint. I highly recommend them!
